Web Security Manager
The Alert Logic Managed Web Application Firewall (WAF) Out-of-Band web application firewall (WAF) monitors your web traffic and logs web violations but does not block any requests. WAF options appear in the Alert Logic console as Web App IDS.
Alert Logic Web Security Manager provides two offerings:
- Web Security Manager—Out-of-Band web application firewall (WAF) that monitors your web traffic and logs web violations but does not block any requests.
- Managed WAF—Inline WAF that actively blocks attacks. For more information about Managed WAF, see Managed WAF Release notes.
Access Web Application IDS options
To access the Cloud Defender Web Application IDS dashboard page in the Alert Logic console, click OVERVIEW, click Dashboards, and then click Web Application IDS.
To access the Cloud Defender Web Application IDS page in the Alert Logic console, click CONFIGURATION, and then click Web Application IDS.
Monitoring summary
The Dashboard page provides a high-level, customizable overview of any noteworthy behavior reported by Alert Logic, presented in customizable modules.
By default, the Alert Logic console displays a default set of modules. You can edit and remove these modules, or you can add new modules. You can create additional tabs to group and organize your modules.
To add a new module:
- Navigate to the Web Application IDS Dashboard page.
- If you have more than one tab, select the tab where you want to add a new module.
- Click Add new.
- In the menu that appears, use the drop-down menu to select a new module.
- After you select a module, click Add this module.
To customize a module:
- Navigate to the Web Application IDS Dashboard page.
- If you have more than one tab, select the tab where you want to edit a module.
- Click the gear icon () for the module you want to edit.
- In the menu that appears, make your desired changes.
Different modules contain different options to edit.
- Click Apply.
To edit a module name:
- Navigate to the Web Application IDS Dashboard page.
- If you have more than one tab, select the tab where you want to edit a module name.
- Click the module name.
- Edit the module name.
- Click the check icon ().
To delete a module:
- Navigate to the Web Application IDS Dashboard page.
- If you have more than one tab, select the tab where you want to delete a module.
- Click the gear icon () for the module you want to delete.
- In the menu that appears, click Delete module.
When you delete a module, the module is only removed from the current tab. If the module appears in another tab, that module remains active.
To create a new tab:
- Navigate to the Web Application IDS Dashboard page.
- Click + Add group.
- In the expanded area, enter a descriptive name.
- Click the check icon ().
You can now add modules to this newly created tab.
To change the default tab:
- Navigate to the Web Application IDS Dashboard page.
- Select the tab you want to become the default tab.
- Click the wheel icon ().
- Click the star icon ().
When you change the default status of a tab, the icon changes to green ().
To edit a tab name:
- Navigate to the Web Application IDS Dashboard page.
- Select the tab you want to edit.
- Click the wheel icon ().
- Edit the tab name.
- Click the check icon ().
To delete a tab:
- Navigate to the Web Application IDS Dashboard page.
- Select the tab to delete.
- Click the wheel icon ().
- Click the trash icon ().
- Click Confirm.
View appliances
The Appliances page shows a list of your appliances with the option to view details for each appliance on the list.
To view details for your appliance:
- Navigate to the Web Application IDS Appliances page.
- Hover your mouse over the appliance row you want to reveal the view button in the Actions column.
- Click view, and then select one of the following:
- Details
- Metadata
- Status History
- Stats
Open the Web Security Manager web application
The Web Security Manager application allows you to configure websites, test Web Security Manager configurations, and bring websites inline. To open the Web Security Manager application, in the appliance row you want, click .
Add a website
- Navigate to the Web Application IDS Appliances page.
- Find the virtual appliance to which you want to add the website, and then click Manage Appliance.
- In the navigation pane, under Services, click Websites.
- On the Websites page, click Add Website.
- In Web Server Domain Name, add the domain name for your new website.
- Click Save Configuration.
